This year we are partnering with Region II for a joint regional meeting on 16-18 October, 2019 at the Westin Jersey City Newport Hotel, NJ, USA. This meeting will be smaller in numbers than the Annual Meeting, which means more of a chance to interact with region II members from the greater New York and Washington DC area, including Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
Region VIII are also supporting attendance with a travel award to attend the regional meeting, Applications are now open on the Travel Award page. Applications close Friday 30 August.
Here are a few things to highlight the value of the meeting and to help you convince your manager why you should attend:
- Region II is one of the largest NCURA regions and offers connections to groups with direct experience in working with government sponsors and compliance and navigating international partnerships from the perspective of USA institutions.
- Visit one of the oldest University in the US for a perspective on its 300 Research Centres and Institutes. There is a site visit to Rutgers University scheduled the day before the regional meeting starts.
- For the first time, pre-meeting workshops will be included in the cost of registration! Come and learn from your US colleagues across a range of research management topics
- The regional meeting is a great way to experience NCURA’s professional development and learn from colleagues in an intimate setting – with around 250-300 attendees. It’s a great option for your first NCURA meeting or for those who regularly attend NCURA meetings, it offers a more in-depth opportunity to discuss pertinent issues with your colleagues
- The shorter conference activities offers an opportunity to plan additional study tours and/or meetings before or after the regional meeting – some examples of research organisations close by are: Columbia University, New York University, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and many, many others
- Situated just a short subway ride from New York City, you can expect unforgettable views of the famous NY skyline from the conference venue and social activities.
